U is for UNDERAGE SMOKERS
The
Government takes more than £100 million a year in
taxes from young smokers – about the same as tobacco
companies spend in the UK on adverts and promotion. For them, it’s
an excellent long-term investment. The younger a person
starts smoking, the more likely it is that they will carry on paying out
for cigarettes for the rest of their life.
